MEDIATION EXPERIENCE:

 Margaret (Maggie) Rosenbaum began her legal career at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where she served as an Assistant State Attorney for eleven years.  She worked in the Juvenile Division, where she was the Assistant Chief, and in the Felony Division.  In 1986, she became the founding Division Chief of the Domestic Crimes Unit, specializing in severe domestic crime cases.  She served in that capacity until 1993, when she was appointed as a General Magistrate by Chief Judge Leonard Rivkind.  Ms. Rosenbaum served as a General Master and then as a General Magistrate from 1993 until her retirement in 2017.

During her tenure as a General Magistrate, she served as the only General Magistrate handling Unified Family Court high conflict cases, and did so for twelve years, balancing two calendars.

  • Speaker: United States House of Representatives, Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Crime & Criminal Justice, Washington, D.C.   Focus: obstacles to the successful prosecution of domestic violence cases (during Congress’ consideration of the Violence Against Women Act)
  • Guest lecturer at the John F. Kennedy School of Government on the dynamics of family violence and prevention of domestic violence
  • Authored legislation making battery on a pregnant woman a felony
  • Authored legislation providing for warrantless arrest for violation of a served restraining order
  • Authored amendment to F.S. 741.30 (amending class of persons entitled to injunctive relief)
  • Co-authored the Repeat Violence Injunction for Protection
  • Authored chapters on “The Victim” and “The Prosecution of Domestic Violence” for The Florida Bar Journal
