Mediation Rates:

State of Florida
– 2 Party Case: $200 per party per hour
– 3 Party Case: $150 per party per hour
– 4 Party Case: $140 per party per hour

Minimum Fees:
– Half Day – 3 hours, or the amount of time reserved if more than 3 hours
– Full Day – 6 hours, or the amount of time reserved if more than 6 hours

The mediation fee is calculated based on your Mediator’s hourly billing rate as detailed above including any pre-mediation preparation time and post-mediation follow-up time spent on the matter. Note: we do not charge any administrative, scheduling, or rescheduling fees. In exchange we ask that you please to respect our time and the cancellation policy below.

MEDIATION CANCELLATION POLICY

Our cancellation policy is three weekdays regardless of holidays. Check your matter confirmation email for a specific date and time by which you can cancel a matter to avoid the minimum fee. If either party needs to cancel or reschedule a matter for any reason, our office must be notified by email no later than the date and time indicated in the confirmation email. If we do not receive written notification prior to this date and time, each party will be billed for their portion of the minimum fee due.

Please note that in order for us to remain neutral, it is our policy to bill all parties equally for their portion of the minimum fee regardless of who canceled the session or why it was canceled even if it is being rescheduled, the matter settled, or one side is still willing and able to move forward but the other is not.

Ronald A. Shapo is an experienced attorney and mediator with over four decades of business, legal and neutral experience. His background includes serving as an accountant (prior to law practice), bank director and corporate counsel, business consultant, and law firm managing partner.

In his practice, Ron also handled large complex matters involving high dollar contracts, partnership, probate and tort disputes, a variety of substantial financial matters, and prevailed in cases of first impression. He utilizes this background in resolving commercial and litigation issues in mediations and arbitrations. As a distinguished neutral, Ron has mediated cases involving construction, real estate/condominiums, banking, probate, corporations, insurance, commercial torts, securities and contracts of all types.

His professional credentials include an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for over 40 years, recognition as a Florida Super Lawyer, panelist at the Construction Super Conference, the Forbes Council of the Americas Conference and the Florida Information Technology Task Force, certification as a Florida Supreme Court mediator, and membership on the American Arbitration Association’s panel of neutrals. He has been active in civic organizations including:  Chairman of the Board of Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy (600 acres and international rowing venue) and service on Sarasota Memorial Hospital Board Finance Committee, Chairman of the Florida State Insurance Commissioner’s Task Force on Security of Public Deposits, Blue Ribbon Committee for the Redevelopment of South Miami Beach and  Executive Committee of the Sarasota County Housing Trust. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting and government cum laude from the University of Miami and his JD cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law.
